Who said Black womenâs hair canât grow? Rapper Sexyy Red showed debunked the myth recently on social media.
The âPound Townâ performer posted on Instagram on Sunday her hair growth story, which included before and after photos.
Sexxy Red had hacked much of her hair off because it got matted under her wigs. After cropping her hair, it grew backâ way healthier and curlier.â
Admirers rushed to the comments and praised Sexyy Red for her natural hair.
âSo Pretty,â City Girls JT commented.
âI told them SexyyâŠreally is sexy!!!!! You know you sexy when nobody even trying to figure out [your] real nameâŠITâS SEXYY!!!â
âGorjusssss,â SZA commented.
âThatâs how Ik Iâve been following you for a while, Sexyy been had inches while n***as trying to be funny.â
âFirst thing they try to talk about is Black women wearing wigs, whole time FULL head of braids underneath. H*e a** n***as, stop hating.â
âEvery female rapper got mad hairrrâŠIâm finna start rapping,â a person commented under the Shade Roomâs post about Sexyy Red.
âI love Sexyy Red idgaf! Sheâs authentic, and she donât look like these other girls.â
âNow look at yâall âsheâs so prettyâ after absolutely dragging her to the face of the earthâŠshe always been that girl, and yâall hated that.â
While there are many reasons why Sexyy Redâs hair got matted under her wigs, natural hair and wig maintenance are essential, from washing and detangling to moisturizing.
Many myths surround Black womenâs hair, one being that it doesnât grow. But Black womenâs hair varies based on hair type. Some people have tighter coils, which would make their hair appear shorter in its natural state. It doesnât excuse the ignorant misconceptions about Black womenâs hair.
