Award-winning artist Lizzo has scored another win with an Outstanding Reality/Competition Series Emmy for Watch Out For The Big Grrrls.
According to CNN, Lizzo won an award for her Amazon series at the 74th Primetime Emmys on Sept. 13. The reality show, which debuted in March, documented her search for plus-sized backup dancers.
“When I was a little girl, all I wanted to see was me in the media — someone fat like me, Black like me, beautiful like me,” the Detroit native said during her emotional acceptance awards speech. “If I could go back and tell little Lizzo something, I’d be like, ‘You’re going to see that person, but b***h, it’s going to have to be you.'”
Lizzo continued, thanking all the competitors on Watch Out For The Big Grrrls, saying, “This is for the big grrrls!” Several of the show’s cast members were present to see Lizzo accept her Emmy.
That evening, she hilariously twerked with help from veteran comedian Kenan Thompson. She also shared multiple posts in celebration of her win via Instagram.
“Hello, Emmys!” she wrote in her first post, which was a photo of her posing in a stunning red dress styled by Black celebrity stylist Jason Rembert.

“This is for the big grrrls who now live in a world with a little more representation; where they are treated with respect.” she wrote in the post’s caption. “To not be the punchline of a tired a*s fat joke. To be loved. To be talented. To be great. We do this because representation changes the culture & can change lives.”
