When it comes to hot collaborations, Lil Uzi Vert and Nicki Minaj have proven time and again that they are a powerhouse duo. But little did we know that their latest hit, “Endless Fashion” from Lil Uzi’s chart-topping album Pink Tape, almost didn’t happen due to a little drama behind the scenes.
In an exclusive interview with GQ, the Philly native spilled the tea about how Nicki Minaj personally reached out to him after catching wind of the album’s title before its release. The “Just Wanna Rock” rapper revealed, “Nicki hit me up like, ‘How you going to drop an album called Pink Tape and you know pink is my thing?'”
Clearly, Nicki’s brand is all about that pink life, and it seems Lil Uzi may have been unknowingly treading on her territory. But instead of brushing off the Queen Barb’s concerns, Uzi quickly realized the weight of her words and decided to make amends. “I was like, ‘Oh, no. You’re right. I’m going to send this over right now.’ And I sent it to her right there,” he confessed.
And boy, are we glad he did! “Endless Fashion” turned out to be an absolute banger. This marks their third collaboration, following their appearances on Meek Mill’s “Froze” and Uzi’s “The Way Life Goes” remix.
