Lil Nas X Trolls The Saints By Teasing Them With Kirk Franklin on A “Montero” Remix

This week, anyone who wondered what it’s like to see Satan receive a lap dance got that opportunity, thanks to Lil Nas X’s video for “Montero”. Now, the breakout “Old Town Road” singer sets his sights on a purer collaboration – but not for real for real, Hot New Hip Hop reported

“I’m gonna put Kirk Franklin on the call me by your name remix to even it out u guys,” joked the pop star on Twitter.

Along with the release of the video, the pop star announced that he collaborated with MSCHF to produce a Nike “Satan Shoe.” The shoes contain human blood. The shoe sold out in less than a minute. Nike filed a lawsuit against MSCHF in federal court this week because the shoes are altered Air Max 97s.

The video caused such an uproar among the purportedly religious. Parents who appointed him their children’s de facto moral compass took offense. In the days following the video’s release, Lil Nas X had mentions that assigned him to hell. In response, he suggested Chik-Fil-A shoes with John 3:16 printed on the sides.

Despite the trolling and witty clapbacks, “Montero” was clearly a cathartic project for Lil Nas X, as he shared a letter he wrote to the 14-year-old version of himself about queerness and coming out. “I know we promised to never come out publicly,” he wrote. “But this will open doors for many other queer people to simply exist,” the 21-year-old added.

But that was it for tenderness.

The singer experienced homophobia before when disgraced rapper Tekashi 69 directed

homophobia towards Lil Nas X. He responded by sharing screenshots of Tekashi in his DMs.

Kirk Franklin did not respond to Lil Nas X’s comedic efforts. But, based on Franklin’s mastery of expletives that he demonstrated with his son and his phat gospel beats, who knows? We can envision a devilishly sweet bop.

As Lil Nas X continued his masterclass in trolling into Tuesday, his video kept the top spot on YouTube. Proof again that we never lose when we are authentic.
