Lil Nas X Previews New Diss Song After BET Rant, Says ‘F**k BET’

Award-winning rapper Lil Nas X previewed a new diss song of him chanting “F**k BET” after his recent rant about the network.

Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, shared the snippet via Twitter on Jun. 7 and revealed its title.

“F**k BET! F**k BET! F**k BET!” he rapped at the beginning of the video clip of him dancing inside a car. He continued firing off lyrics boasting about his accomplishments. “Look at how I top sh*t. I just put like three up in the top 10, ad I don’t need nobody. I just need these cc’s on my body. Everything I do be tryna run, go make a profit. Read about it.”

According to a second tweet, Hill’s new song features famous Louisiana rapper NBA YoungBoy.

“Late to da party ft. YB coming soon,” he wrote.

On Jun. 1, the “Industry Baby” musician took to the social media platform to air out his grievances about BET after seeing that he wasn’t on the network’s list of its 2022 award show nominees.

“Thank you, BET awards. an outstanding zero nominations again,” he wrote, adding “black excellence!”

Hill added that his frustrations weren’t just about the nominations but fighting to be seen as a gay Black man in society.

“I just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top. Mfs try to pretend we are invisible,” he said.

He expounded upon his point with another tweet, saying the “bigger problem” is “homophobia in the black community.”

“This not over no bet award. This is about the bigger problem of homophobia in the black community. Y’all can sit and pretend all u want, but imma risk it all for us.”

The Georgia native was nominated for BET Awards’ Best New Artist in 2020 and five BET Hip Hop Awards in 2019 and 2021.

This year’s nominated artists at the award show include Doja Cat, Drake, Ari Lennox, Kendrick Lamar, and Silk Sonic.

“We love Lil Nas X. He was nominated for a Best New Artist BET Award in 2020, and we proudly showcased his extraordinary talent and creativity on the show twice,” the company said in a statement to the Huffington Post. “He performed ‘Old Town Road’ with Billy Ray Cyrus at ‘BET Awards’ 2019, and his ‘BET Awards’ 2021 performance was a highlight of our show. No one cheered louder that night than BET.”

BET also noted that no representatives from the network were serving on the Voting Academy for its awards ceremony.

“Unfortunately, this year, he was not nominated by BET’s Voting Academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of nearly 500 entertainment professionals in the fields of music, television, film, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts.”

The long-running channel concluded, saying they were “committed” to including different “intersections of the Black community.”

“We are passionate advocates for the wonderful diversity that exists within our community. We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community.”
