Nipsey Hussle’s grandmother, Margaret Boutte, reportedly passed away on October 24 at 91. Hussle’s sister Samantha Smith and his partner Lauren London took to Instagram to grieve and offer tribute to the matriarch.
London’s post showed the late Boutte posing with flowers, captioned with the words, “Forever Honored. Granny Gran,” alongside a blue heart.

Boutte was close to Hussle and his siblings and is often credited with helping to raise them. Because of their closeness, before Boutte’s death, she honored Hussle with a speech after he received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in August. She gave a speech recognizing his kindness and upbringing from being a c who she looked after to a rapper. She even offered words for Eric Holder, the man convicted of killing Nipsey Hussle in March 2019.
“Nipsey was the love of my life, always very respectful,” Boutte said to start. “I miss him, but I look at his picture and remember all the wonderful times we had together. I thank my daughter for blessing me with Nipsey, Sami, and Samantha. I love you all. He will never be gone in my heart. He lives forever.”
She continued adding words for the convicted Eric Holder, “I’m praying for him too,” she said. “I hope he does not get killed in custody. Have enough time to ask God for forgiveness. I’m Catholic, I do believe in prayer, and I’m praying for him. It was a young, ignorant situation, and I’m hoping he’s sorry for what he did.”
