The Los Angeles Police Department opened an investigation into sexual assault claims against rapper T.I and his wife, singer Tiny Harris.
An LAPD spokesperson confirmed there was an active investigation against the hip-hop couple, The Daily Beast reported. The announcement came after an anonymous accuser filed a report against T.I. and Tiny over an incident that allegedly occurred in 2005.
The latest victim spoke to detectives about the allegations in early April. Her claims were originally publicized in a letter Tyrone Blackburn, her lawyer, sent to law enforcement in Georgia and California requesting an investigation.
The anonymous woman told authorities she met T.I. and Tiny in 2005 at a club in Los Angeles. She accepted a drink offered by Tiny, and after a couple of sips, she alleged she felt “lightheaded and dizzy.” The woman eventually went back to a hotel with the couple. The accuser claimed Tiny gave her a “back butt massage” by rubbing her naked behind against the woman’s back as she laid on the hotel bed.
The woman’s illness worsened, and when she began to throw up, T.I. reportedly tried to penetrate her vaginally with his foot.
“She told him, no, and the next thing she remembers was waking up naked on the couch with a towel thrown over her with a very sore vagina,” the letter stated.
Blackburn is representing at least 10 alleged victims of the couple who “are unaware of each other, and without any leading on my part, they recount eerily similar events of sexual abuse, forced ingestion of illegal narcotics, kidnapping, terroristic threats and false imprisonment.”
One of the alleged abuse victims is male, but the details of his allegations have not been publicized.
T.I. and Tiny have denied the allegations in the past and issued another denial through their attorney Steve Sadow.
“Even assuming the story in The Daily Beast is close to accurate, it appears the LAPD ‘accuser’ has chosen once again to remain anonymous, thereby preventing us from being in a position to disprove or refute her allegations – or even examine them,” Sadow said in a statement to CBS News on Monday.
“Meanwhile, although we now appear for the first time to have the name of an “accuser” who supposedly filed a police report with LVPD, we have absolutely zero details about her or her claim.”
Blackburn praised the LAPD’s investigation in his own statement.
“We are pleased with the latest development from the LAPD. They showed great concern and are moving forward with an investigation into the allegations of abuse, rape, and drugging by Clifford ‘T.I.’ Harris and Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris,” Blackburn said.
“In response to their counsel’s request that these women come out publicly, the protection and safety of these women are my biggest priority,” the statement continued. “Ending violence against women, especially women, who have suffered in silence for years is my biggest priority. Their identities are known to law enforcement, and that’s what matters.”
It looks like sh*t is officially hitting the fan for T.I. and Tiny.
