Kylie Jenner and her children’s father, Travis Scott, shared their parenting philosophy, and it is exactly the kind of philosophy one would expect. They allow their toddler daughter, Stormi, to self-discipline and are “natural.”
Scott, 30, explained that he and Jenner have a “natural vibe, like more self-discipline” in the parenting of their toddler.
“We’re, like, ‘OK, you know you got to go to bed at nine, are you going to stay up till [sic] 11 or are you going to go to sleep now?’ And it’s so cool [to hear her say], ‘I’m going to sleep ya’ll,’” Scott said.
This is what the rapper calls “self-discipline.”
Scott and Jenner confirmed a couple of weeks ago that she’s pregnant with a second baby.
During her first pregnancy, Jenner pretty much hid it until the very end, but now, she openly embraces her growing abdomen.
Hopefully, their method works for them. Jenner’s sister Kourtney Kardashian has gotten a bad reputation from members of her own family for her seemingly lack of discipline towards her children.
Kendall Jenner ranked Kardashian the worst parent due to her children’s lack of discipline after an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians showed the children behaving in a way many melanated parents would not tolerate.
Experts agree that children need healthy boundaries due to physiological and emotional reasons. For example, a child’s prefrontal lobe is not developed enough for concrete thinking before the age of eight. Therefore, allowing younger children to make decisions that have real implications may not be the best parenting tactic.
Of course, harsh parenting is not recommended these days. Children eventually grow up, and social media is evidence that children who grow up without feeling safe, become adults who experience negative emotional outcomes.
In this case, the couple’s daughter is three-years-old. Jenner and Scott have time to adjust and see what ultimately works as both of their children develop.
