Famed gospel singer Kirk Franklin and veteran rapper Plies have hilariously responded to long-standing rumors that they’re the same person.
According to Yahoo News, Kirk addressed the long-running joke via a funny Instagram video post on Oct. 1.
“Time to clear up the rumors,” the post’s caption said.
In the video, the singer is seen FaceTiming Plies while sitting alongside popular morning show The Breakfast Club co-host, Angela Yee.
“I am not he, and he is not I,” Kirk hilariously said while turning his phone towards the camera to prove he and the rapper are two different people.

His video arrived after years of endless rumors that the two musicians have never been seen in the same room and, thus, are the same person.
“Until Kirk Franklin and Plies are in the same room together holding a spoon… I’m still gonna believe that they are the same person,” one Twitter user named @Blacksupremekai posted back in 2020. However, fans can now rest knowing the truth.

“I’ve been trying to reach out to you for the longest,” Kirk told Plies in his latest video. “Listen man, we’re going to do something for Florida, right?”
“Let’s do it!” the Florida rapper responded.
The gospel heavyweight continued, calling Plies his “twin” and said they’re gonna “help the people.”
“So me and my twin, we’re coming to Florida,” he said.
“And we’re twinning right now, for real, for real,” Plies interjected while bursting into laughter.
“And we gon’ help the people. Help’s coming from the Franklin boys,” Kirk said.
Hurricane Ian recently hit the sunshine state, which officials said left over 50 people dead and thousands stranded without power.
On a lighter note, Yee added that fans claimed Kirk “turned into” Plies when he got frustrated.
“I don’t like how if Kirk Franklin gets mad, they act like he turns into you,” she told the 46-year-old.
“I love it!” Franklin concluded.
