While Kim Kardashian and ex-husband Kanye West have publicly addressed their marital and parenting issues on social media, the reality star insinuated that there’s more to the former couple’s relationship that remained private.
During the season finale of The Kardashians, the 41-year-old reflected on her breakup with West while discussing Khloe Kardashian’s complicated relationship with Tristan Thompson, People Magazine reported.
For years, the Kardashian family has expressed love and respect for one another. However, Kim said they’ve tried not to “meddle” in each other’s affairs, which she learned in her marriage with the 45-year-old Chicago native.
“I feel like we always tiptoe around each other’s situations because we don’t want to meddle. And I respect that no one came to me during my marriage and was like, ‘Are you good?'” Kim told Khloé, 37. “Everyone let me have my own journey and see that on my own, and I appreciate that.”
She added, “But sometimes I look back and I’m like, ‘When do we jump in?’ That’s what I am so unclear about.”
The SKIMS founder then questioned when would a distressing situation call for a sibling to step in and defend their loved one.
When is that time when we step into our siblings’ lives and be like, ‘This isn’t okay’?” Kim asked.
Kim went on to say that people would be shocked if they knew all of the details regarding her marriage to the “Touch the Sky” rapper.
“If people knew what my relationship really was like, I think they would be like, ‘How did this last this long?'” Kim explained during Thursday’s episode. “But I can live with myself knowing that I tried everything humanly possible to make a situation work and so I can walk away feeling absolutely guilt-free.”
Kim’s revelation comes weeks after she apologized to her family for West’s behavior and how it affected them, Sis2Sis reported.
“All I can do is control how I react to something,” Kim told the group. “I can’t control how he treats me or, you know, how he’s always treated, you guys.”
In the episode, Kim realized the impact the Yeezy mogul’s behavior had on her family and “is taking the opportunity to say, “I’m sorry, guys.”
The former couple wed in 2014 and shares children: North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce after nearly seven years of marriage and became legally single back in March.
Now, she is currently in a relationship with her boyfriend, Pete Davidson. The couple started dating last fall after Kim was a host on Saturday Night Live.
