Kid Cudi Talks Beef With Kanye West In New Interview

Kid Cudi talked about his beef with Kanye West as the new cover boy for Esquire’s September issue.

On Wednesday, the 38-year-old shared an Instagram post with a few feature photos from Esquire’s feature spread. Cudi gave credits in the caption, keeping it short and sweet. “SEPT 2022 ISSUE @esquire,” the caption read.

The issue is paired with an interview, which Cudi used to talk about his beef with Kanye West. It all started when Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from her 6-year-marriage to West in February. She started dating Pete Davidson just months later.

West criticized Cudi’s friendship with Davidson and was promptly removed from West’s album Donda 2.

Then, Cudi replaced West’s set at Rolling Loud, to which he was pelted with water bottles from fans who wanted Ye to perform instead.

Following the incident, West attacked Davidson amidst the announcement that he and Kardashian broke up earlier this month.

The headline for the photoshopped New York Times paper read “SKETE DAVIDSON DEAD AT AGE 28.” The headline read, “Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers.”

Cudi addressed the incident in the Esquire interview, saying, “Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you’re trending because somebody’s talking some sh*t about you?” Cudi asked. “That sh*t pissed me off. That he had the power to f*ck with me that week. That he used his power to f*ck with me. You f*cking with my mental health now, bro.”

“I’m not one of your kids. I’m not Kim. It doesn’t matter if I’m friends with Pete or not. None of this sh*t had anything to do with me,” he continued. “If you can’t be a grown man and deal with the fact that you lost your woman? That’s not my f*cking problem. You need to own up to your sh*t like every man in this life has.”

The two used to be close friends. After meeting in 2004, Cudi signed to ‘Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint in 2008. They’ve since worked together on dozens of collaborations, including 2010’s “Gorgeous” from Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” from Ye’s 2016 album, Life of Pablo,

and “No Mistakes,” one of the most recent from the 2018 album Ye.

Cudi reflected on the future of their friendship, saying, “It’s gonna take a motherf*cking miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don’t see it happening. He gon’ have to become a monk.”
