“This is so hard, man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel. You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!!” Cole said.
Keyshia Cole, her other siblings, and her late mother had a strained relationship. Her mother struggled with drug addiction, which led to her being separated from her children throughout their lives. Lons and Cole’s father gave her up for adoption to family friends.
Some of the struggles Lons had were discussed on the BET series Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is back in 2006 and a spin-off series called Frankie & Neffe starring Lons and another daughter Neffe, Cole’s oldest sister.
Some of Cole’s other siblings addressed their mother’s death early on. Her brother Sam told TMZ that his mother had relapsed by doing drugs at her birthday party on Sunday, the same day she overdosed. Frankie Lons had just turned 61.
Cole concluded her Instagram post, remembering her mother with a vow to pay tribute to her mother in what could only be described as devastatingly sweet.
“When u said all you want is to have ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN IN ONE PLACE, AT ONE TIME, meant the most to you, And I’m completely down to do that for you. Even through our differences …. WE LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Frank da bank!” Cole said.
Losing is a parent is hard no matter what their challenges may have been. We continue to wish the family peace and healing during this time.
