“Let It Go” singer Keyshia Cole appeared on the season 12 premiere of TV One’s Unsung on March 6 and spoke of her one-time friendship with singer Eve.
The “Love” singer said that her friendship with Eve ended after she slapped a woman when she was with Eve, and the new mom decided to end their friendship.
“There was a thing that happened with Eve,” Cole said. “We’re walking out, and somebody grabbed her bag or something like that and I kind of turned around and slapped the girl. It was like, ‘Girl, what is you doing? Back up.’” Eve is really pissed off about that — like we stopped hanging out. She was like, ‘I can’t hang with Keyshia. She can’t be slapping people.’”
Cole blamed her upbringing in Oakland, Calif., for her bad behavior, which she said often included physical altercations. The singer also noted it took her a long time to learn she couldn’t touch people.
“When I came straight from Oakland, it was still in me,” she explained. “The disrespect, things that would happen, how we handle it from the ‘hood. It was like, we just fight. It took a long time to learn to not put my hands on people; you know what I’m saying?”
The Shade Room shared a video clip of the singer discussing the incident, which ended the singers’ friendship.
“#PressPlay: Chile! When it comes to being a ride or die, friend, #KeyshiaCole used to be ready to put the paws on folks! However, an incident that ended her friendship with #Eve made her think about her actions. Thoughts #Roomies?! 📹:(@uncensoredtvone ).”

Cole also said on Unsung that she reacted badly to Eve for calling out her behavior. However, she said she learned a good lesson from the experience — leave it to security.
“I was like, ‘I slapped somebody for you, what the **k is this?’ But then it taught me a lot later too because being who I am today, she can get sued too,” said Cole. “Me being a part of her crew, I just should’ve left it to security. Somebody gets paid for that.”
