Kenneth Petty Takes Plea For Not Registering As Sex Offender In California

Kenneth Petty has agreed to cop a plea deal for failing to register in California as a sex offender, TMZ reported.

As Sister 2 Sister reported, Petty was in hot water for not registering as a sex offender stemming from his 1995 conviction for first-degree attempted rape in New York.

Petty’s exact sentence has yet to be determined, but he is expected to receive the lightest sentence possible plus five years of supervision. Petty was facing up to 10 years in jail and supervision for the rest of his life.

Minaj and Petty were married in October of 2019. After Minaj became pregnant with their first child, Petty moved to California. However, he was arrested in March of 2020 after failing to register for as a sex offender in the state, which is required by law.

Prosecutors and Petty reached a plea deal that will considerably lighten his sentence, and Petty pled guilty to one count of failing to register as a sex offender. The feds are requesting a minimum sentence of 5 years of supervised probation.

Minaj and Petty were childhood friends who dated as teenagers in Queens, N.Y. She posted a statement on Twitter in 2019 announcing the couple has known each other since they were young.

“Facts but we were like this about each other since we were very young kids in the hood,” she wrote. “He was on my body b4 the big ol’ ghetto booty . B4 the fame & fortune. Fought my bf cuz I wouldn’t be his girl. He was always a lil brazy. But anyway, timing is everything. ♥️🙏.”

Petty’s sentence may or may not include jail time along with five or more years of supervised probation.
