DMX’s homegoing celebration over the weekend was on for the books. Dozens of his family members and close celebrity friends paid their respects to the hip-hop mainstay, including his close friend Kanye West, who performed with his Sunday Service choir at the private event.
In a recent collaboration with Balenciaga, West released a tribute t-shirt for DMX through his YEEZY brand to raise funds for the late rapper’s grieving family.
As of now, the project has raised over $1 million, proving just how impactful DMX was to so many people.

On April 24, DMX’s Instagram page uploaded a photo of the shirt, which shows him in shades with the words “R.I.P. DMX” around his face. The now sold-out long-sleeved t-shirt retailed for a price of $200. According to TMZ, fans bought out the shirt within 24 hours.
The official site for the tribute merch stated that Balenciaga was approached by West for the collab and described it as “a tribute to the artist and his fans with net proceeds benefiting Simmons’s family.”
A longtime friend to West, DMX offered to lead a prayer during one of his Sunday Service events in 2019.
“All day long, people go out of their way to bless and to help me,” DMX said during the emotional prayer. “I have favor with everyone that I deal with today. Doors that were once closed are now open for me.”

At the “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” rapper’s Saturday memorial service, West performed Soul II Soul’s “Keep On Movin’” as well as “You Brought The Sunshine,” a gospel song by The Clark Sisters. Along with his choir, the group donned red hoodies and played live instruments for the small crowd.
DMX, unfortunately, suffered a heart attack earlier this month after an alleged drug overdose. After being placed on life support, he died on April 9 at the young age of 50. The Yonkers-born rapper is survived by his 15 children, fiancée Desiree Lindstrom and countless friends and fans who will miss him dearly.
