Grammy Award-winning rapper, producer, and fashion designer Kanye West has sought behavioral treatment at a luxury facility.
According to reports, West has been seeking treatment so he could be a “better human and dad.”
“West’s team has been looking at treatment facilities for him…with a luxury component…He wants to enter a behavioral treatment center to be a better human and a better dad,” a source reportedly said.
The unnamed source added that the rapper decided not to make controversial statements via social media for the sake of his children; North West, 8, Saint West, 6, Chicago West, 4, and Psalm West, 2.
“For the sake of the kids, Kanye has told Kim he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and he will go away somewhere to get better.”
West was absent for the 2022 Grammys, which took place on Apr. 3. He also recently pulled out of the Coachella Festival, where he was set to perform as a headlining act on Apr. 17 and 24. He made the move two weeks before the days-long event was scheduled to take place.
“Kanye has definitely pulled out of Coachella. He hasn’t been rehearsing or putting on a production,” another source told news outlets. “Travis Scott was supposed to be joining him onstage…Now it would be virtually impossible for him to get it together. Look for The Weeknd to replace him.”
The source explained that the DONDA artist dropped out of Coachella because he wanted to stay out of the public eye.
“Kanye is backing out because he wants to stay out of the public eye after all the drama with Kim and Pete. He wants to get help.”
West had been caught up in an ongoing beef between himself and comedian Pete Davidson, who has been dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian after they broke up. He was also involved in a public spat with Kardashian surrounding their children and threatened comedian and actor D.L. Hughley.
However, the head of media and partnerships at his company, media personality Jason Lee, said the media has been portraying a “false” narrative of the Chicago native.
“Ye monitors all headlines pertaining to him and his family daily,” Lee wrote in a statement released on Apr. 1.
“Most [of them] are being fed to media by ‘sources close to the Kardashians,’ which have been creating a false narrative that not only is untrue but further compromises his goal of creating a healthy environment for the beautiful children he shares with Kim. He’s been focused on taking care of himself, being a present and loving father and a creative genius well before all the false headlines we’ve seen [recently]. If you don’t hear it from his mouth, read it from his social media, or get it from a press release he approved, it’s simply false.”
Though usually active on his Instagram page, West has deleted most of his content, leaving just one video of himself giving a speech at the Los Angeles Mission’s Annual Thanksgiving event on Nov. 24, 2021.
“I’ve made mistakes,” he said in the clip that was posted the following day. “I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable…but I’m here to change that narrative.”
