It looks like Yeezy is taking a break from perfecting his ‘DONDA” masterpiece and beef with rappers and legally changing his real name to his nickname.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Kanye West has officially hired his lawyer to file a petition to change his birth name from Kanye Omari West to be changed to ‘YE.’
In California, where Kanye resides, a judge must sign off on the legal documents for a person attempting to change their name legally.
The “Flashing Lights” emcee said the decision to change his name is for “personal” reasons but has yet to provide any other information on why he’s decided on the change.
“YE’ has been full of surprises as of recently.
As we previously reported, Kanye is on the verge of releasing his upcoming and highly anticipated album, DONDA. The artist has hosted three listening parties for the project, created merch, and teased his fans with what’s to come next.

Kanye also recently broke the news after deciding to take his innovation skills up a notch and recreating the house he grew up in to host the next stadium listening party for “DONDA.”
Photos have also been leaked on the internet of the structure being built right smack in the middle of Soldier Field in Chicago, the rapper’s hometown.

Kanye’s newest album has led for several creative measures to be taken on his part, such as living in Mercedes Benz stadium while he perfects the album.
He has already changed his name on Instagram.
It’s suspected that the artist filed the name change appeal in Los Angles to stay close to his children despite his recent divorce from reality TV star Kim Kardashian. Kanye’s appeal is currently in the hands of a Los Angeles judge.
We’ll keep you posted on the judge’s decision.
