Kandi Burruss Sued By A Mother And Her Teenage Daughter Who Is A Victim Of The 2020 Valentines Day Shooting At Old Lady Gang

A mother and her 14-year-old daughter are suing Real Housewives of Atlanta reality star Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, for the 2020 shooting at their Old Lady Gang restaurant that injured the teenager.

According to court documents, the teenager, Kiya Humphries, and her mother, Tammy Johnson, were at the Camp Creek Marketplace shopping center in East Point, Georgia, with two children and a relative on Feb. 14, 2020. They stated in the claim that they heard an argument in the parking lot before entering the restaurant.

“While waiting to be seated at Old Lady Gang, a man wearing a red tracksuit entered Old Lady Gang and was near the front of the restaurant,” the document states. “Shortly afterward, a second man entered Old Lady Gang.”

The man wearing the red tracksuit started shooting in the restaurant, hitting Humphries in her right calf. The teenager and two other people were wounded in the attack.

“Kiya Humphries has experienced severe physical and emotional pain and suffering as a result of the gunshot wound she sustained,” court documents read. Two witnesses spoke with 11Alive and told them they were waiting to be seated at another restaurant next to OLG when they heard “two pops” that made them run for their lives.

The lawsuit stated that Humphries’ gunshot injuries caused her to forego multiple surgeries, therapy, and counseling. Humphries didn’t mention a specific amount she is suing for. Still, she and her mother want to sue Burruss and Tucker for their inadequate security, allegedly knowing all sorts of crimes have been occurring.

The day after the shooting, Burruss posted a statement about the incident on Instagram.

“My family and I are truly saddened by the unfortunate events that occurred at Old Lady Gang (OLG) Camp Creek on the evening of Feb. 14, an evening that was meant to celebrate love, unfortunately, turned into something quite different,” Burruss wrote. “Our prayers and thoughts go out to the individuals that were harmed or in any way negatively impacted. We are aware that this matter is being actively investigated by law enforcement, and we are cooperating with law enforcement to bring to justice those involved.”
