Jordanna Barrett, the wife of Tampa Bay Buccaneers star outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett, revealed her pregnancy on Instagram with a message in memory of their 2-year-old daughter, who drowned tragically. 

When their daughter, Arrayah, drowned in a pool on April 30, the Barrett family was devastated. 

For children under the age of five, drowning is the biggest cause of death. 

The family sought privacy in the family affair, therefore it is unknown whether or not the Barrett family took the necessary precautions to prevent drowning, such as erecting a pool fence and teaching the youngster to swim.

The Associated Press, which obtained a police report at the time, noted that Arrayah’s death was a “purely accidental and tragic incident.”

As Jordanna stated, she and her husband found out they were expecting “a few weeks after” Arrayah’s “heaven day.”

“A few weeks after our sweet girls heaven day, Shaquil and I found out we were expecting! I just know Arrayah had a special hand in picking this sweet girl to add to our family!” Jordanna said.

Shaquil Jr., Braylon, and the new baby on the way, Aaliyah Ray, are the Barretts’ children.

As one might expect, Arrayah’s death has taken its toll on the Barrett family for several months. 

Shaquil took his time before commemorating his daughter with a video on his social media profile, and he later thanked everyone for their support during this tough time. 

“This has been the hardest couple weeks of our lives,” he wrote on Instagram. “And we couldn’t have done it or start to even begin getting through this without you. Our Arrayah sunshine was and is our world and knowing she has touched so many lives is so heart warming.”

Players extended their support for the Barrett family, including Barrett’s Buccaneers teammate Tom Brady. 

Jordanna will be born in February 2024.
