Joe Budden Praises Megan Thee Stallion For Her Bomb Ass Comeback, ‘Cobra’

Podcaster Joe Budden gave Megan Thee Stallion her flowers for her latest single, “Cobra,” which dropped on Nov. 3.

In the Nov. 5 (672) episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the host applauded the “Savage” hitmaker for getting candid about her lowest moments in her wild bars.

They also touched on how well Megan’s cross-genre approach worked (she sprinkled in some emo with a driving guitar).

Budden started by saying the song had him siding with Megan, adding he’d continue to support the Houston Hottie if she continued making music like “Cobra.”

“This is who I want to hear,” Budden said. “I want to hear from b***hes that’s depressed. I want to hear from b***hes that’s sad about some s**t, ‘Yeah, this pussy get poppin’, but I’m struggling inside.’ I think that’s where the best art comes from. It’s not gender-specific.”

He continued, “I commend Meg. Yo, it’s real easy to get pigeonholed into just…poppin’ pussy.”

Budden praised Megan for being truthful about her struggles following the incident where incarcerated rapper Tory Lanez shot her in the foot outside Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills mansion party.

In “Cobra,” the rapper (without mentioning names) called out those she thought were her friends for not interfering in her depressed state when she came close to suicide.

“Every night I cried, I almost died,” Megan rapped in the first verse. “And nobody close tried to stop me / Long as everybody getting paid, right? Everything will be okay, right?”

“I love this, yo,” I did not expect to love this the way that I do. This, to me, was the hardest drop,” the host said.

Budden’s co-hosts agreed that the instrumental was dope without the “hard” lyrics while commending the guitarist for exceeding the level of the lyrics and beat.

The 43-year-old host got turned off when Megan called out a former lover (most assume her ex, Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine) for cheating on her.

“Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his dick sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’.”

Budden commented, “I would eventually like to see her date someone and then not kick their back in.”

He concluded, “If you don’t like this, you hatin’.”

He then commended the former couple for keeping their relationship tiffs on the DL.

Budden’s comments on Megan’s single followed his harsh remarks on Megan and Cardi’s “Bongos.” Using the same breath to compliment “Cobra,” Budden continued slamming “Bongos,” claiming Megan took part in “Bongos,” knowing it would be a “flop.”

Megan overcame many obstacles in her life, from her mom dying in 2019 of cancer after her career rocketed from her 2020 “Suga” project to Lanez shooting the rapper.

Throughout the song, Megan admitted to struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts and alcoholism.

“Cobra” and the music video is out now.
