Jim Jones saved his photographer’s life by reviving him with CPR.
The Harlem-bred rapper and entrepreneur was recently in Florida with his photographer Jerry “Flee Flicks” Flete for a cryptocurrency event. The event was for Jones’ Capo Coin. It is there, says Inside Edition, that Flete collapsed.
“We was just literally just hanging out on a break from work. Just hanging out,” The photographer told Inside Edition’s Stephanie Officer. “It just happened so fast. Basically, I woke up, Jim [was] giving me chest compressions and telling me, ‘Wake up. Wake up.’ He basically saved my life. I’m here today because of Jim.”
The Dipset alum said that he noticed Flete was choking while he was on the phone.
“I just saw Flee sitting, just going through something that didn’t seem good. Like he was choking. He couldn’t breathe and his eyes was going back in his head,” he said. “He was catching a bit of a seizure. I actually didn’t know what was going on. Kind of scared me.”
Right after Jones witnessed Jerry Flete struggling, he immediately started performing CPR on him. Flete reflected on what happened saying,
“I didn’t know what was going on at the moment. I guess everything happened so fast,” he said. “But I had an out-of-body experience. I felt like I was telling myself to come back to myself. Then I just, I guess when I snapped out of it, Jim was giving me chest compressions.”
Jones explained that he learned CPR at just 12 years old for his sister’s health condition.
“When I was younger, I had to take these classes for CPR and all that type of things for my little sister who has a heart condition,” he said. “They needed the whole family to take these special classes before she came home when she was a baby.”
He continued, saying that he never forgot what he learned in those CPR classes.
In true Jim Jones fashion, he also made an Instagram post about the whole ordeal. The light-hearted post says,
“Love u @flee_flicks but u scared th[e] Shit out of me. God is good who else gone capture me when I b havin th[e] Shit on lol. On a serious note, I encourage everyone to get CPR lessons for u n th[e] family.”
