Jennifer Hudson Moves Entire Audience With Gospel Song To 82-Year-Old Audience Member

Jennifer Hudson brought tears to her studio audience by accepting an older woman’s request to sing a gospel song on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Sept. 23.

The 82-year-old audience member Marilyn stood up and asked the singer to sing a gospel song.

Do you have a particular song?” Hudson asked her.

“Jesus Promised Me,” the woman responded. The entire song being “Jesus Promised Me a Home Over There.”

Shocked, Hudson exclaimed that her grandmother used to sing it to her.

“Jesus, He, promised me a home over there/ Jesus promised me a home over there/ No more sickness, sorrow, pain or cares/ Jesus promised me a home over there/ singing praises.”

While Hudson was singing, the camera panned the audience, showing some people in tears and wiping away their tears. When she finished singing, Hudson embraced Marilyn amid the audience applauding and standing to their feet.

“We don’t know why she needed to hear that song, but through her tears and that hug, you could tell she had a reason,” one person commented. “Glad Jennifer Hudson took the time to sing it. Not many other talk show hosts would have done it. We witnessed a real blessing being given today.”

Another commented, “Sing every show, sister! This is your true gift.”

“I love how she can sign anytime without preparation,” read a comment.

This moment wasn’t the only time Hudson had a heartwarming moment on the talk show. She recently had Sheryl Lee Ralph on her show following the Abbot Elementary actress receiving her first Emmy nomination. The two talked about their time doing Dreamgirls since Ralph was a part of the original Broadway cast. Hudson joined the Dreamgirls

movie cast.

Hudson and Ralph performed the productions theme song, “Dreamgirls,” with Ralph teaching her the steps while Hudson sang to the piano.

It’s no secret that the talk show host is a well-known singer. Even after coming in seventh place, she received two Grammy Awards and an Emmy, Oscar, and Tony Award, reaching EGOT status.
