It looks like we soon may see a historic “Verzuz” battle between award-winning vocalists Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia Barrino.
During an interview with “Big Tigger Morning Show,” 39-year-old Hudson said how “beautiful” it would be to possibly participate in a Verzuz battle alongside her American Idol alum Fantasia Barrino.
The Verzuz battle web series was created during the pandemic by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. It highlights artists’ biggest hits as they compete against each other.
“I live for Verzuz,” says Hudson during the interview. When asked if she would go hit for hit with Fantasia Barrino, Hudson replies, “That’s a dope idea.”
Both Hudson and Barrino competed in the singing competition series “American Idol” in 2004, where Hudson was a top-seven finalist, but Barrino won the season three title.
When pushed more, Hudson shared her own Verzuz ideas.
“I got some Verzuz ideas too that I want to see as well,” Hudson continued. “That’s a beautiful idea. Maybe one day we can make that happen, maybe one day. I want to see somebody like Smokey Robinson vs. Stevie Wonder.”
