This past August, Jeneba Barrie celebrated the third anniversary of Jeneba Barrie Nude Footwear. The Sierra Leone native launched the line in 2019 after a Kickstarter campaign.
As the founder and creator of the luxury shoe line that specializes in flesh-toned footwear, Barrie realized that flesh-toned didn’t necessarily include all skin colors. Once the budding entrepreneur raised enough capital to fund her company, she designed a more inclusive color collection of 13 shades with the help of an Italian manufacturer.
Barrie explained the gap in the industry, saying, “For far too long, the market has had very restrictive and narrow definition of ‘nude.’ One or two shades of beige, which does not accurately reflect the beautiful diversity of all skin tones.”
Since the brand’s successful launch, Barrie has offered more selections like the Black Collection for 2020 and the Ama Loafer Collection. Prices for the luxury shoes range from $145- $245.

The businesswoman, an attorney who graduated from Louisiana State University Law School, is also a wife and mother of three boys. Because the shoes sell out quickly, Barrie offers a 15% discount for waiting list consumers.
