Jeannie Mai announced she expecting her first child with husband Jeezy during yesterday’s episode of The Real.
Mai revealed her baby news on Monday during the season premiere of The Real.
“I can definitely say that our Real fam is growing,” the mommy-to-be said. “It’s been really hard to keep all of these secrets for you guys because we’ve had so much to reveal here at the show, including the fact that I am pregnant!”
This will be Mai’s first child and Jeezy’s third. Mai famously declared she didn’t want children during an episode of The Real in 2018. Her ex-husband Freddy Harteis wanted kids and Mai’s unwillingness to have a baby contributed to their divorce.
Mai acknowledged the change of heart during Monday’s broadcast.
“It feels surreal because this is the same home that I said so many defiant things. You know, I was like, I know exactly what I want, I know exactly what kind of woman I want to be, and I always said, I’d never be a mom,” Mai admitted.
“And there’s so many reasons now that are coming to fruition as to why I would have said that then, but I do know that you never say never, and that love can really change you,” she added.
The talk show host opened up about her pregnancy journey in an interview with Women’s Health. Mai told the magazine she and Jeezy have been hiding the pregnancy for five months. The couple used IVF after struggling to get pregnant for a year.

“It was not easy,” Mai told the magazine. “We both needed a bit of assistance, especially with me being 41 at the time.”
The couple conceived in February 2021, a month before their wedding, but Mai suffered from a miscarriage.
“I wondered if I was being punished. I wondered if I’d jinxed myself or cursed myself,” she said. “My entire life, I never wanted children. When I say never, I’m talking a hard-stop never.”
The couple got married and Mai discovered she was pregnant again a week after their wedding.
“It was the most beautiful sign that anything’s possible, that you’re not in control, and God has a plan,” Mai said.
Congrats to the parents-to-be.
