Jeannie Mai Denies Gatekeeping Daughter From Jeezy

While Hollywood divorces often involve salacious accusations and heated exchanges, this one takes an unexpected turn as Jeannie Mai defends herself against allegations of “gatekeeping” their daughter and shifts the focus to her safety.

In a recent court filing, Jeannie Mai, referred to as Ms. Jenkins in the documents, responded to Jeezy’s request for a hearing to sort out their temporary custody schedule. Jeezy, whose legal name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, had accused Jeannie of interfering with his parenting time with their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco.

However, Jeannie firmly denies these allegations, claiming she has cooperated by granting Jeezy all the dates he requested, even extending his time with their daughter over Christmas. Instead of gatekeeping, Jeannie expresses legitimate concerns about her daughter’s safety, particularly regarding firearms present in Jeezy’s home.

Jeannie’s lawyers assert that her insistence on safety measures, such as securing firearms and ensuring properly trained caregivers, is not an attempt to restrict Jeezy’s access but rather a responsible effort to prioritize Monaco’s well-being.

“It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s well-being,” the filing read.

“The lack of consistency, continuity and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the Child (Monaco), and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the Child is in their respective custody,” the document continued.

While the legal battle rages on, it’s worth noting that this high-profile couple’s journey began with a mini-mony during the pandemic, a testament to their love despite COVID-induced disruptions. However, after two years of marriage and the unexpected passing of Jeezy’s mother, the couple decided to part ways, with Jeezy filing for divorce in September.

As the custody battle continues, both parties have traded accusations. Jeannie has hinted at infidelity on Jeezy’s part, which he vehemently denies. In the midst of these allegations, they share their daughter’s welfare as a common concern.

Despite the turmoil, Jeezy expressed in October that the decision to end their marriage was not impulsive and came with a heavy heart. He continues to emphasize his love and respect for Jeannie, making it clear that their time together holds a cherished place in his heart.
