According to Page Six, Grammy-award-winning artist Janet Jackson does not want any part of the New York Times/FX documentary, Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson.

The outlet reported that the documentary is meant to dive into the details of how Jackson was made out to be the bad guy after the infamous 2004 halftime performance of the Super Bowl when singer Justin Timberlake exposed her breast.

However, Jackson’s former stylist Wayne Scot Lukas who created the Super Bowl costume spoke out about the documentary and said Jackson would not partake. 

“She wants that documentary to go away. She didn’t ask for a ‘Free Janet’ documentary. She’s not interested,” Lukas said.

Jackson reportedly refused to participate in the New York Times/FX film and asked Lukas and others not to join either.

“She asked us not to do it. She wants to tell her own story,” he said.

The documentary will tell the story of how Les Moonves attempted to ruin Jackson’s career following the embarrassing incident while Timberlake’s career was booming.

The former N’Sync singer even received Grammy awards that year, but Jackson was disinvited from the awards show.

Lukas said that he did film an interview for Jackson’s documentary, which is set to premiere in January, but she told him not to talk about the Super Bowl in it.

“They’re going to discuss it, and she’ll have her final say. I’m not privy to her final say, I just need to be aware of my story, and I’ve been loyal for 18 years,” the former stylist said.

To this very day, nearly two decades later, Lukas said he continues to get blamed for the performance and has even gotten death threats since the FX doc aired.

“I really wish Janet or someone could come out now and say, ‘Leave my friend Wayne alone, he didn’t do anything wrong…’ as long as you keep me in the mix, fingers keep being pointed at me,” he said.
