Inspired by his relationship with his daughters and the lessons he’s learned on fatherhood, Oscar-winning actor and singer Jamie Foxx recently released a book titled “Act Like You Got Some Sense: And Other Things My Daughters Taught Me.” While discussing it with Essence, the Ray star touched on a few candid subjects, including his choice to forgo the traditional marriage route, simply saying that he “just never saw it” in his life.
The 53-year-old entertainer opened up about his outlook on relationships and marriage with Essence; a topic also covered in his new book. Foxx revealed that his decision not to marry was “not saying that you don’t want to love, not saying that you don’t want someone that you care for, not saying that you don’t want to care for other people, I just never saw it in my life.”

Jamie is the father of two daughters, 12-year-old Annalise Bishop and Corinne Foxx, 27, who, according to CNN, both helped him write the new memoir and currently live with him. Corinne had also worked alongside the “Unpredictable” singer on several entertainment opportunities, including the popular game show Beat Shazam and Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, a Netflix sitcom based loosely on their relationship when she was a teen.

Both daughters being multiracial, the actor also spoke with Essence about dating outside of his race while in the public eye, saying, “I didn’t hide the fact that I love my Black folk, and I didn’t want any of that to define me or make it seem like it was anything other than I had children with people I loved at that time and still love. I don’t want that to cloud anything because I’m not that dude.”
