Record executive and Murder Inc. founder Irv Gotti said Fat Joe isn’t his friend anymore after the rapper chastised him for his Ashanti comments.

During a recent interview with Houston’s 97.9 The Box, Irv said Fat Joe was no longer his friend after he got wind that the veteran Bronx rapper called him a “sucker.” Joe had reportedly done so regarding Irv’s recollection about allegedly dating Ashanti 20 years ago on an episode of Drink Champs.

“I feel like [Fat Joe] fooled me. He’s not my friend. I was fooled, but in life you get fooled,” Irv said on Aug. 10. “Forget Joe ’cause they don’t want me to talk about Joe, so I won’t talk about Joe. I’ll talk about life. In life, everyone goes through friends. People who you thought were your friends—I’m not talking about Joe. Let me talk. In life, I’ve had countless friends come and go, but [do] you know what remains consistent and why I get through all of this? My family, ’cause I don’t really need friends… I’m more than content going home and spending time with my mom. Like, I’m a weird dude like that.”

He continued, saying that he didn’t need anyone who “pretended” to be his friend.

“I know certain people who are friends—so-called friends—they may be mad at that…and that’s cool,” the 52-year-old said. “We don’t need to be friends anymore. I don’t need any [new or old ones] who pretended to be my friend. They revealed themselves.”

Additionally, he alluded to people being jealous of him “on the low.”

“People may be jealous of you on the low. I just signed a deal for $300 million,” he said about his recent deal with Iconoclast, in which he’d sell his stake in Murder Inc.’s master recordings for a whopping amount. The agreement has also enabled him to receive funding for various movie and television projects.
