Marla Gibbs solidified her status as a Black television icon with her various acting roles throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The recently-turned 90-year-old actress attended Los Angeles’ prominent Hollywood Walk of Fame to receive a star on Tuesday, July 20.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gibbs was in the middle of her acceptance speech when she reportedly appeared to nearly faint (56:45 mark of the video) before being assisted off-stage by her son and taken to a nearby chair.

A close source allegedly told Entertainment Weekly that Gibbs is now “doing great” after Tuesday’s scare, adding that she even had a “great time at the after-party,”

The incident was reportedly captured via a live stream, causing many fans to be concerned for the 227 star. 

The outlet also reported that the weather at the time was nearly 90 degrees, possibly contributing to Gibbs’ appearing close to passing out.

Before Gibbs’ speech, actress Tisha Campbell and longtime television producer Norman Lear, who helped bring the sitcoms

All in the Family and The Jeffersons to television, took the stage to gush about Gibbs’ long-standing career and accomplishments she’s earned along the way.

Lear, 98, shared with the crowd Tuesday, “I’m thrilled to be here for you. Love you. You added time to my life, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you.”

Gibbs’ role as Florence Jefferson on the sitcom went on to earn her several Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series.
