The viral footage, obtained by TMZ, captured the inebriated passenger’s constant chattering that started to annoy Tyson during the flight, Sis2Sis reported.
One witness told the outlet that the former boxer was friendly toward fellow JetBlue passengers. He took selfies with several fans and even chatted with a few. However, things quickly changed after the unruly passenger, identified as Melvin Townsend, kept talking after Tyson told the man to “chill.”
Moments later, Tyson stood up, turned around, and punched Townsend. One passenger filmed the incident on his cell phone, showing the man’s bloody face as he seemingly remained quiet in his seat.
“My boy just got beat up by Mike Tyson,” the guy filming the ordeal said from behind the camera. “Yeah, he got f–ked up.”
After the incident, Tyson was reportedly removed from the aircraft.
According to the outlet, Townsend has lawyered up, and his attorney said his client’s actions were nothing more than an “overly excited fan.”
However, Tyson’s team said the man allegedly threw a bottle at him.
As of now, no charges have been filed against Tyson.
