Ice Spice Awarded Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie Of The Year

If there’s one artist who has the music industry abuzz, it’s the fiery young rapper from the Bronx, Ice Spice. At just 23 years old, she’s already achieved more success than most artists dream of in their entire careers.

With four Hot 100 top 10 hits and two epic collaborations with her idol Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice is Billboard’s crowned R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Year. And she’s not done yet – this “People’s Princess” has her sights set on ruling the rap game’s throne.

Her journey to stardom has been nothing short of remarkable. From her debut on the remix of Taylor Swift’s “Karma” to her electrifying performance at the BET Awards, Ice Spice has proven time and again that she’s a force to be reckoned with.

But don’t be fooled by her quick ascent to fame. Ice Spice’s success is a result of years of hard work and dedication. Growing up, she was always drawn to music, inspired by her father, an underground rapper. As a teenager, she found herself mesmerized by New York’s drill scene, particularly the late Pop Smoke’s impact on the genre.

“I guess I always knew I’d be a rapper because I was looking to be friends with producers,” she said in the Billboard interview.

It wasn’t long before she discovered her passion for rapping and connected with producer RIOTUSA while attending college. Together, they crafted “Munch (Feelin’ U),” her breakout single that propelled her to the forefront of hip-hop royalty.

But Ice Spice isn’t content with being a one-hit-wonder. She’s proven her versatility by conquering not just hip-hop but also EDM and pop stages. Her collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift are a testament to her ability to attract different genres and crowds, without ever compromising her identity as a rapper.

While she’s basking in her well-deserved glory, Ice Spice is already eyeing her next moves. Her debut EP, Like..?, dropped last July, and she’s planning to release a deluxe edition soon.

Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Year award is just the beginning for Ice Spice. The rap game’s throne is within her grasp, and she’s ready to claim it.
