Since the two began dating last year, musician-actor Common and Girl’s Trip star Tiffany Haddish have been going strong as a solid Hollywood couple. In a recent sit-down with People Magazine, Common got real about his relationship with Haddish and the importance of communication, telling the outlet that he makes sure to listen to her and tries his best to be an understanding partner.

“I think one of the important things about relationships for me has been to really know myself more and love myself and be able to express the things that I want…I’ve evolved and gotten to that place,” he said, opening up to the publication about his relationship journey.

On taking the time to listen in his new romance with Haddish, the 49-year-old entertainer continued, “I listen and take things in and try to do my best to understand,” adding, “I listen to what Tiffany would have to say about how she feels about something and just try to understand it instead of always having an answer.”

Last November, the Chicago rapper offered fans a glimpse into his romance with Haddish during a virtual interview with SiriusXM’s Karen Hunter. Describing her as a “really incredible human being,” Common added, “Before I got to know her, I could see how dynamic she is as a person. How intelligent, how selfless she is. How she stands up in Hollywood for Black women,”

Sitting down with E!’s Daily Pop this past week, Haddish commented on whether she surprises Common with her witty, no-holds-barred-style humor, replying, “He’s constantly in shock. I’m pretty sure. He laughs a lot. I’m definitely saying things, and he’s like, ‘What, are you okay?’”
