In a recent sitdown with infamous hip-hop blogger DJ Vlad, Vivica A. Fox revealed that the true reason behind her 2002 split from ex-husband and R&B singer Christopher “Sixx-Nine” Harvest was due to finances.
The Two Can Play That Game Actress stated that she felt rushed and peer pressured into the marriage by friends and discussed her woes of being the breadwinner and “paying all the bills all the time.”
Confirming that she got married in 1998 because “everyone else was doing it,” Fox said in the video clip, “Everyone was having their Cinderella day, and I just wanted one too, to be very honest with you…I felt peer pressure.”

“I had my Cinderella day, but I should’ve honestly taken the time to get to know him a little bit better,” she continued. “I now…make sure that I take a little more time before I go so publicly with a relationship. It was a huge lesson for me.”
On what was the final straw in her marriage to Harvest, Fox stated, “At the time he was a singer, and the group he was in was supposed to have been signed with Death Row Records.”
She then claimed that following the death of Tupac and the decline of the record label, Harvest didn’t have the same motivation.
“He didn’t go out and try to pursue things with the same drive that I had for my career,” Fox continued, revealing that paying all of the bills took a toll on their relationship. “I can only ask for help so many times before I had to come to the conclusion that I didn’t want to be the breadwinner in this family.
“My mother didn’t raise me to take care of a man, and that was the deciding factor.”
A year following their divorce, Fox began dating rapper 50 Cent, who she referred to during the DJ Vlad interview as the love of her life.
