Houston Businesswoman Plans To Sue Chris Brown After Canceling Benefit Concert, Keeping $1.1 Million

Houston businesswoman LeJuan Bailey announced on July 17 in a press release that she would be suing rapper Chris Brown for canceling his March 19 performance after allegedly taking $1.1 million in prep money.

NBC reported that the “One Night Only Benefit Concert” was an event organized to raise funds for people in Houston and Louisiana. Their homes were damaged in the catastrophic hurricanes last year.

Bailey is the owner of DML Real Estate Investors and Construction, and she claims that Brown canceled during sound check, right before he was supposed to take the stage to perform.

At that point, Bailey had already put up more than a million dollars in accommodations and preparation for the “Look At Me Now” rapper when he decided to cancel without warning. She had already paid performance fees and his requests for a private plane to travel. Bailey declared that Brown acknowledged the “receipt of her last wire transfer, but refused to refund payments.”

“I acted in good faith and sponsored this concert out of love and respect for residents in need,” Bailey expressed the altruism of her intentions and how she expected Brown to have the same desire to help.

“I am appalled that Chris Brown refuses to refund my money for a show he did not appear to after we announced our show and sold tickets.”

In the press release, Bailey said that she was left with many hardships trying to fix things in the wake of his cancellation.

She finished her statement with clear plans to take legal action against Brown. “At this point, it is my humble belief that Chris Brown’s actions are parallel to pure theft,” Bailey told the audience. “He has the unmitigated gall to take my money, stand up the residents of Houston, then return to the city to perform on August 17, 2022. My message to Chris Brown: We will not sit back and allow you to disrespect the victims of Hurricane Ida and Nicholas in need.”
