Harvard Law School graduate and entertainment lawyer, Raye Mitchell, has announced that she teamed up with Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA player, Cindy Brown, to launch a Black woman-owned film and content production company.

Mitchell and Brown’s company, Bossology 53 Entertainment, is a media company set to create TV projects, films, and publishing content that would advance social justice, racial, and LGBTQ equity. The organization also aims to “celebrate everyone’s right” to have authority over their own stories.

The two businesswomen made their announcement via a statement released on Mar. 24.

“Bossology 53 Entertainment exists to celebrate everyone’s right to the dignity of being the boss of their stories and the right to be heard when telling their truth,” it said. “The company comprises Raye Mitchell’s production projects under The Mouthology® [podcast] and brand merged with CindyBrown53 to create a new film and television platform, book publishing content, communications training, reputation management, the JustUsCreative™ social justice content, and a division devoted to Olympianism.”

The former basketball player and “Chief Olympian Officer” said her partnership with the Harvard Law School grad and “Chief Boss Girl Officer” would be the first of its kind.

“This is a first-of-its-kind collaboration embracing our interpretation of the principles of Olympic values, including excellence, respect, dignity, and mental health. We share a vision to help fellow humans embrace their dignity, humanity, and the will to be well.”

Mitchell, also the host and founder of The Mouthology Show podcast, added that she and Brown have teamed up before, but their new venture would broadcast their content on a larger scale.

“We’ve teamed up before to enable our fans, friends, and supporters to enjoy the fruits of our experiences, and now we launch this new hyper-brand and platform that accelerates and scales our content production potential,” she said.

Brown expressed that the opportunity to launch Bossology 53 has been exciting due to being part of an “Olympian movement.” The movement “advocates for social justice for the LGBTQ community to work to create an innovative platform with a seasoned industry expert, apply operational expertise, and potential investment relationship backing to fuel rapid growth,” she said.

The retired athlete reportedly filed a $53 million lawsuit alleging race, gender, LGBTQ discrimination, identity theft, and mortgage fraud recently, after battling it out with the Calif. court system for over a decade. According to reports, she was revealed to be living in her car outside her Villa Park, Calif. home in 2021, after an unknown individual reportedly used her signature to falsify documents, resulting in her eviction. She purchased the Orange County home in 1991 and resided there for 30 years but ended up dealing with the identity theft case for over a decade. As a result, she lost all her $2.5 million net worth and mortgage.

Brown’s battle also reportedly gained national media attention after releasing videos alleging that she was evicted from her home at gunpoint in an unannounced S.W.A.T.-like raid in 2020.

“I am lucky to be alive,” she said in her latest statement.

Under Bossology 53, she and Mitchell would be working on a project about Brown’s story.

“I look forward to working on The Cindy Brown-Raye Mitchell Story that led to the ground-breaking lawsuit,” the award-winning entertainment lawyer said. “We are adding operations in Inglewood because of my friend Issa Rae’s commitment to Inglewood.”

Likewise, the 56-year-old gold medalist said she was ready to work with “a seasoned veteran.” She continued, saying that she and Mitchell desire to have their offices located in Los Angeles, as they both have history there. “Raye is from Los Angeles. I went to California State University, Long Beach. We want our office in our communities. I am delighted to give back to my Long Beach community and hope to collaborate with others to benefit our youth,” she said.

One of Brown’s fans, Snoop Dogg, was born and raised in Long Beach. He named dropped her as one of the top-five female basketball players during a live clubhouse session in March 2021.
