Fresh from The Little Mermaid hype, triple threat Halle Bailey bestowed a sneak peek into her next project on Instagram on Monday, July 31 — an upcoming debut single titled “Angel.”
Kicking off her solo music career, Halle shared a promo video for her upcoming single, which will release on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.
In the promo video, clips of Halle’s childhood played out, highlighting how music has been a part of the 23-year-old’s life since the beginning.
The video comprised clips of a young Halle singing on stage with an audience cheering her on. Viewers also witnessed an excited Halle opening a gift.
“I got an electric guitar,” the singer exclaimed in the teaser trailer.
The clip cut to the singer in a hat, showing off a charm bracelet, which included an angel charm. It also displayed the Joyful Noise actress standing on a table in a classroom, singing to people, before cutting to her and her older sister, Chloe Bailey, performing on a stage.
Swiftly, childhood videos zoomed by, presenting Halle holding a pig and other clips from her as a baby to an adult, all leading up to her latest accomplishment, the impactful yet controversial (to racists) Disney movie, The Little Mermaid.
The tease ends with the words splayed across the screen, “Angles make a way somehow… .” Along with her signature, she completed the video with the title of her debut single, “Angel.”
“Angels make a way somehow. Friday,” Halle wrote in the Instagram post’s caption, encouraging her followers to pre-save the track.

In the comments, 25-year-old Chloe showed her support, writing, “I cannot WAIT. My angel, ALWAYS.”
Halle began her singing career, performing with Chloe as a duo named Chloe + Halle, covering some of the greatest hits in history, especially Beyoncé tracks, and posting them on YouTube.
Many may remember them as contestants in the televised Radio Disney competition Next Big Thing (NBT), which Coco Jones and H.E.R (who first came out as Gabi Wilson) were on (at different times). Chloe + Halle won the younger generation and NBT with their cute hit, “T.M.I.”
They were featured in Let It Shine and on Austin and Ally, where their song “Unstoppable” was featured in the soundtrack in 2013.
Their debut album, “The Kids Are Alright,” came in 2018, where they gained two Grammy nominations. Their sophomore album, “Ungodly Hour,” landed them No. 16 on the Billboard Top 200 charts.
They also had roles in Freeform’s Grown-ish, a spin-off of Black-ish, playing Sky and Jazz Forster.
While the duo didn’t split, both vocal powerhouses embarked on solo careers, with Chloe working on her music and gearing up for her national tour and Halle working on The Little Mermaid and, now, her solo music career.
