According to a recent Instagram post, Grey’s Anatomy actress Kelly McCreary is expecting her first baby with her husband and director for the show, Pete Chatmon.
McCreary, who plays Dr. Maggie Pierce on the popular show, Grey’s Anatomy, announced the news on August 16.
The new mom-to-be wrote, “When being late, comes right on time… Surprise! WE’RE HAVING A BABY! Pete and I are thrilled to be growing our family and to share the news with all of you!”

Chatmon also shared his excitement and enthusiasm for the happy news.
The caption of his own repost of the photos his wife shared read, “This Is My Favorite Monday Post Of All Time. So Excited To Grow Our Family And Add Dad To My Resume. “
McCreary also shared photos of Chatmon holding up a onesies made in expectation of their baby and said, “Baby’s first onesie! The absolute best moment of all was sharing the news with @petechatmon. And how cute are these tiny things!! “

In a recent interview with People, McCreary shared the news and spoke about her experience in finding out she was expecting.
She said, “I actually screamed in shock when I saw pregnant, I mean, I just wasn’t expecting it.”
“I had really been mentally and emotionally preparing myself for the possibility that it might take us some time to conceive,” the actress added. “So, I was genuinely shocked.”
The actress mentioned that she’s planning to learn all that she can about motherhood while her baby grows inside her.
“It’s such a mystifying process,” she said. “I think I’ve ordered maybe, like, 15 to 20 books already. And I’m learning so much about just such a broad scope of things. I’ve just been diving in. I’m really eager to learn.”
