TikTok sensation Ms. Holla, born Helen Davis, passed away one week ago, and family drama over money has already ensued.
On January 8, Davis’ granddaughter, Michelle Williams, revealed that a male relative accused her of neglecting the beloved matriarch. He also claimed that the caregiver was stealing from Davis. Now, the family appears to be infighting over Ms. Holla’s estate after she monetized her social media accounts. She took to YouTube to explain what happened before she passed.
Williams expressed that she had “minimal help” with the care of her grandmother– even though she has living children.
“I know somethings ain’t for the internet, but it be your own family. So, I’m a keep it a buck… If you feel like I was so wrong, and the job I did was so poor, then why didn’t you step in and intervene?”
She continued explaining the family members she was close to and how she came to care for Ms. Holla.
“The person that was loyal to me and loved me unconditionally– or the people that was loyal to me and loved me unconditionally are gone and leaving– was my mama and my daddy. And that’s it. And my grandmother (referencing Davis) is leaving, ya know?”
Williams also defined her immediate “circle” as her husband, children, and stepchildren. She expressed that they also helped her care for the matriarch.
The emotional granddaughter revealed that she stood by her decision to make Ms. Holla a social media sensation.
“I knew my grandmother was talented. I knew she missed her calling. [She’s] been like that all my life. Nobody had [anything] to say until she became popular,” Williams said. “It feels like they’re entitled. At the end of the day, I don’t owe nobody nothing, and Holla don’t owe nobody nothing. This is something we did.”
Davis didn’t have an insurance policy. Williams launched a GoFundMe for her grandmother’s funeral services on January 17. The donation site raised almost $47,000; the highest monetary gift was $5,000.
On January 18, Williams confirmed that the GoFundMe page was the only official page created for her grandmother.
“Please know that this is the official fundraiser for Helen Davis, aka Queen Holla of Lottery Frappe and Laughs. We have received many emails about the legitimacy of this fundraiser after we posted on Facebook about other folks trying to raise funds for Queen Holla. GoFundMe’s team has worked with Chelle directly to verify this fundraiser, and they are proactively monitoring for any new fundraiser attempts on our family’s behalf.”
On January 19, Teat Chapel and Funeral Home Cremation Service is handling Davis’ funeral arrangements. The funeral home is located in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
The beloved internet sensation passed away on January 14 after battling breast cancer. She was 97 years old.
Williams shared the devastating news on social media.
“Our queen is gone. My grandmother passed away,” she said at the beginning of the video. “I want to thank y’all so much for the smiles y’all put on her face. Her last days, it really means the world to me. It meant the world to her. She passed away in her sleep. She went out peacefully. What’s really keeping me together here, y’all, is… she’s not in pain anymore, no more cancer, no more morphine, no more…none of that. So, that’s what’s really keeping me together. But like I say, y’all, it [has] been fun. We had fun. Y’all made her days amazing.”
We hope her family finds peace.
