GMA hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were recently spotted cozy in NYC amid rumors of a secret romance.
According to People, photos of Holmes and Robach having a cozy evening in the big apple went public on Nov. 30.
The photos allegedly showed the two co-hosts flirting at an NYC bar, holding hands in an SUV, having alone time in each other’s apartments and even enjoying an Upstate New York vacation in a secluded cottage two weeks before Thanksgiving.
“They had no shame going out together and have been publicly doing this for much longer than a month,” an unnamed insider told People. “Staffers are very surprised it took this long to come out. Everyone was turning a blind eye because they didn’t want the controversy surrounding the show.”
Another insider revealed that the news of the GMA anchors’ relationship wasn’t a secret to colleagues. The unnamed source claimed that although it became public this week, their romance was “widely known” amongst several staffers–so much so that they were told to “knock off” their flirting.
“There were so many people internally that were unhappy about it,” the insider shared. “They were flirtatious.”
The Daily Mail reported that Holmes and Robach, who are both married, have been spending lots of time together as they seemingly share more than a passion for running and outdoor activities. Despite being married to their respective spouses for 12 years–Robach is married to actor Andrew Shue while Holmes is married to attorney Marilee Fiebig–they’ve been very transparent about their budding “friendship” on air. However, a third source said there wasn’t any overlap between their alleged romance and marriages.
“This was two consenting adults who were each separated. They both broke up with their spouses in August within weeks of each other,” the source said about the rumors. “The relationship didn’t start until after that.”
Other insiders confirmed that Holmes and Robach’s “friendship” evolved in the summer of 2022, “when they were in London together filming the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee for ABC and staff were buzzing about the intimacy between them.”
A former guest– who appeared on the show in 2020– told Sis2Sis about the pair’s chemistry during her appearance.
“I could not put my finger on what was happening, but I felt I was being interviewed on two different shows. TJ was engaging, and we had a good rapport, but Amy was distant and seemed uninterested in the segment. It was giving a jealous girlfriend vibe. I thought I was reading too much into the situation, but now that this has all come up, I guess my instincts were correct.”
The two journalists began co-anchoring GMA‘s spinoff, GMA3, in 2020.
