Recently outed Good Morning America lovers Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ affair has put a strain on their relationships with friends and colleagues.
According to The U.S. Sun, the anchors’ affair didn’t sit right with some friends and colleagues, causing the GMA employees to be iced out. A source knowledgeable in behind-the-scenes of the popular daytime program said that the affair made GMA co-host and ABC’s This Week host George Stephanopoulos furious.
The show’s co-host Robin Roberts was furious about the situation because she felt it tainted the show’s reputation.
“George and Robin do not like this,” the source told the outlet. “This is very messy.”
The show had to deal with co-host Matt Lauer’s sex scandal in 2017, which Robach and Holmes “prided themselves” on not having problems like Lauer, claiming they were “proud all their hosts were decent, married and committed people.”
The source said that the affair hurt Roberts because she was close to Robach, especially since she encouraged her on live T.V. to get a mammogram, saving Robach’s life and her marriage with Andrew Shue.
“Robin is an idealist,” the source said. “She is the boss. When something goes off the rails, she jumps in and tells people to tidy the mess up. And I’m not sure there’s a way to tidy this one up. This is all very dirty for a morning show.”
A source told Page Six that Robach’s 20/20 co-anchor David Muir refused to engage in the drama.
“He’s not having it,” the source said. “He’s the face of the evening news, and nothing about him ever makes it into the papers. He’s very private, and no one at ABC likes the way Amy and T.J. handled it.”
The source added that “every anchor is upset that Amy and T.J. have caused such drama…No one wants to be associated with this, and Amy and David already aren’t that lose right now.”
Per a Sis2Sis report, Robach and Holmes’ relationship was brought to the public eye in late November despite the two being married to other people. They were spotted enjoying a romantic vacation in New York City, holding hands in an Uber, flirting in an NYC bar and enjoying alone time in each other’s apartments.
