Ladies, it’s official. Fans of the hit 2017 comedy film Girls Trip will be thrilled to hear that a sequel is officially in the works.
As previously reported by Sis2Sis, producer Will Packer announced the movie during an interview with GMA early last year.
“We are absolutely in the stages; the ladies are in; I just talked to the director,” he added. “We are underway with Girls Trip 2, and now it’s just about what kind of trip do we take, right? Post-pandemic with all our favorite crazy ladies, what do we do with them? So that’s what we got to figure out.”
According to Variety, Girls Trip co-screenwriter Tracy Oliver said, “Will Packer might kill me, but we’re looking to set it in Ghana.” The ladies will attend the popular Afrochella festival, which takes place in Ghana each year.
The new film is set to feature the original cast from the 2017 hit– Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish.

However, some fans are upset about Haddish being cast despite her recent sexual abuse allegations.
As previously reported by Sis2Sis, the lawsuit claimed that Jane Doe and her younger brother, who were 14 and 7 at the time, were forced to participate in sexually exploitive skits under the guise of comedy with both Aries Spears and Haddish.
The anonymous sibling pair who filed a lawsuit filed a notice of dismissal for the suit on September 20.
Twitter is teeming with opposing thoughts about Haddish in the film.
Girls Trip 2 is going to be capped by default because of Haddish. Such a shame.

Girls Trip 2 causing a resurgence of the pedo narrative about Tiffany Haddish is really sad. I hope it doesn’t overshadow the sequel. Black women already have it hard enough in the entertainment industry. pic.twitter.com/Wdy794rZDe

I’m going to be honest if you watched that video of the full skit with Aries Spears and Tiffany Haddish and still choose to support either of them, I’m judging you cuz that shit disturbed me for days….

I feel like its been long enough for me to say y’all TOTALLY misunderstood that skit with Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears. And the people that “sued” only did so because they could. The damn skit was a literal depiction of the circumstances that so commonly LEAD to SA on kids 🙄
