Sean “Diddy” Combs’ (aka Puff Daddy) former bodyguard Gene Deal claims “Puff” wanted to fight Will Smith under the assumption that the Fresh Prince of Belair actor and Jada Pinkett Smith wanted to sleep with his ex, Jennifer Lopez.
Deal appeared on The Art of Dialogue, releasing more shocking details about things he knew and witnessed while working for Diddy. Deal dropped the bombshell in an episode posted on YouTube on Oct. 17.
He said it happened at a party actor Matt Damon threw for Ben Affleck at the Four Seasons hotel.
The former bodyguard explained he sat on one side of the hotel with Smith, his sister and her husband. The other side contained Affleck, Damon, Pinkett-Smith and Lopez.
“I know Puff so well that he stood up. When he stood up, he walked and, like, did his arm some kind of way like…” Deal recalled, crossing his arms like he remembered Diddy did that night. “And then he went like this (uncrossed his arms). I went over towards him. I know to go over there towards him.”
He continued, “He said to me, ‘Yo, I think Will and Jada [are] trying to scoop up Jennifer. I want you to stay close ’cause I’mma snuff him.”
Diddy’s threat to Will made Deal laugh because the ex-bodyguard felt like Smith would lambaste Diddy in a brawl.
“Puff could scrap, now, but I don’t think he could beat Will Smith. He could scrap,” a laughing Deal said.
Deal remained near his boss, prepared for whatever Diddy had planned.
“I stayed like…if he snuffed Will, I could move slow enough that Will could probably get two or three punches back in,” he said. “That s**t was funny. He thought that Jada and Will [were] coming on too strong to Jennifer. Making advances.”
Although Deal didn’t say when the event happened, it’s known that Lopez and Diddy dated in 1999 and ended the relationship in 2001. The year after their breakup, Lopez began dating Affleck for two years.
