Geico Sued By Woman For $1 Million For Sexually Transmitted Disease

Mercury is in retrograde, and a woman has filed a lawsuit against GEICO over an STD she caught while having sex in the car of one of their insured.

According to the lawsuit, the woman contracted Human Papilloma Virus, also known as HPV, from the man she was entertaining in the vehicle.

Now, she is suing the company for a whopping $1 million for the damages associated with the incident.

In 2017, the woman, known as M.O., had sex with the owner of a Hyundai Genesis. That car was insured by GEICO. Upon learning that she had contracted the STD from her suitor, she filed a lawsuit against him.

The man, who is only known as M.B. in court filings, was ordered to pay the woman $5.2 million through the insurance company in a state court, reported DailyMail.

What began in a state court has now reached a federal status, and the lawsuit is being heard in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

GEICO has filed a countersuit that argues two points.

The first is that the policy only covers injuries that happen “out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of the car” and that two adults having unprotected sex in said car does not qualify.

The second argument is that the parties being unnamed in the earlier lawsuit gives them a reason to believe that the two are conspiring for a payout.

In layman’s terms, the insurance company alleges that the STD lawsuit is a ruse for both parties to walk away with millions of dollars.

GEICO has also taken issue with M.O. and M.B.’s desire for privacy down to their identity. The woman has claimed that she has children and that details of her sexual behavior could be detrimental.

The court has not been persuaded that the calls for privacy have merit since the woman had already sent GEICO a letter demanding payment.

However, they allow the privacy request to stay in place until the judge rules on the woman’s motion to dismiss.

Let this be the same lesson we should have all learned by second grade. Actions have consequences and can come with a dollop of embarrassment on top.
