CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King and her daughter, Kirby Bumpus, recreated a beautiful intergenerational family photo. 

Bumpus and King shot a photoshoot reboot of King’s 1986 family picture with her mother and Bumpus when she was a newborn. The pair even donned the same colored outfits in the original image and wrapped grandson Luca in a blue and white blanket. 

Bumpus shared the heartwarming image on Instagram.

“1986 to 2021. Luca, Mom and I had to recreate this pic of my Grammy, my mom and I shortly after coming home from the hospital in 1986,” she wrote. 

“I’m so grateful for these invaluable moments I’ve had with my mom over the last few weeks and get all the feels when I think about our new dynamic, along with Luca’s growing love and relationship with his Gaia as he grows up!”

 

Bumpus proudly hashtagged her pride for the matriarchs of her family and gratitude in the photos using #FilledWithGratitude, #BeholdMyBeautiful31YearOldMom, #AndHowClassyWasMyGrammy?!

In September, CBS This Morning and King announced Luca’s birth when the show aired.

“@GayleKing is officially a grandmother! And she’s showing off the first pictures of baby boy Luca Lynn Miller. Gayle is happy to report “favorite daughter Kirby and favorite son-in-law Virgil are over the moon” and that she is ‘bursting!’”

King is thrilled with being a new grandmother to Luca, affectionately known as L.L. Cool Mill. 

“I’m officially a grandmother!” King said during the show’s broadcast. “It’s really something when you see your own child become a parent. I am so nuts about him.”

“He’s very, very cute,” King said. “I’m over the moon.”
