Gayle King commemorated her 68th birthday with three different celebrations.
In an Instagram post, King shared that she celebrated her birthday in New York, California and Hawaii.
“2022 ended not one but THREE birthday celebrations! New York! [California] & Hawaii…with all of my favorite peeps,” she wrote in the post’s caption on Monday.

The post contained several photos and videos of her birthday celebrations, with the first slide showing people off-camera singing “Happy Birthday” to King and her singing along with a yellow three-tier cake in the shot.
Two slides showed King’s birthday dinner with her son, William Bumpus Jr., and daughter, Kirby Bumpus, with her husband, Virgil Miller, and son, Luca. Best friend and talk show host Oprah Winfrey also attended the dinner, wearing King’s favorite color, yellow.
Winfrey hosted a dinner celebration, which included the yellow, three-tier cake. It was an intimate dinner that included Winfrey, her longtime boyfriend, Steadman Graham, and others. King also shared a photo of her CBS Mornings colleagues celebrating her birthday.
The last slide was a surprise performance by The Temptations, singing “My Girl” while wearing matching yellow suits.
“…biggest surprise last photo came swipe left from @thetemptations how did they know my favorite color is YELLOW! New year off to a great start I’d say…I feel the love,” the post ended.
Winfrey also took King on a five-to-seven-hour hike in Hawaii, which consisted of King continuously joking around about how tiresome and complicated the hike was.
“How did @gayleking do during our 5-hour hike? (7 hours for Gayle, actually),” the Oprah Winfrey Show host wrote in the caption. “Here you go-she says her toes hurt today.”

The hike ended with a bread (and cheese) picnic.
