Freddy Harteis was caught talking cash sh-t about ex-wife Jeannie Mai after her pregnancy announcement.
When Mai announced she was expecting a baby with her rapper husband Jeezy on Monday, many wondered how her ex-husband felt about the pregnancy. One Instagram commenter said Harteis was probably “biting bricks and screaming” about the news and he responded. The Neighborhood Talk grabbed screenshots of the commentary.
“Nope. Still don’t give a sh-t,” Harteis wrote.
Another commenter surmised Mai just didn’t want a baby with her ex, and Harteis went in.
“I upgraded from trash to treasure a long time ago,” Harteis wrote under his @thehollywoodhunter account. “Best decision I ever made. Congratulations. Being truly happy is an awesome feeling. Love my little family.”
Mai and Harteis split in 2017 after a decade of marriage. During a 2018 episode of The Real, she admitted her lack of desire to have kids was part of the reason they divorced, per People Magazine.
“When we were dating I was always very vocal — because I’ll never lead a man on when I know I don’t want to have children,” Mai said. “So, I was always honest about that. I think we were both so young — it was like 14 years ago — I think he also thought, ‘You know what, we’re so in love I don’t want that either.’ He could have been happy not having children with me.”
Harteis eventually got engaged to Linsey Toole and had two children. Their first child was born in October 2018 and his divorce from Mai was finalized two months later, according to Page Six.
Mai has not addressed her ex-husband’s remarks but her The Real co-host Loni Love had time.
“Auntie Loni here: This sounds like a woman answering… @thehollywoodhunter you better than this,” she wrote, per E! Online. “We were happy with your children being born so show the same grace to Baby Jenkins.”
Harteis’ comment was eventually deleted.
Mai and Jeezy married in March. She believes their love led to her change of heart about parenthood.
“It feels surreal because this is the same home that I said so many defiant things. You know, I was like, I know exactly what I want, I know exactly what kind of woman I want to be, and I always said, I’d never be a mom,” Mai said during Monday’s broadcast of The Real.
She added, “and there’s so many reasons now that are coming to fruition as to why I would have said that then, but I do know that you never say never, and that love can really change you.”
