Former 106 and Park host Terrence J, born Terrence Jenkins, narrowly escaped an armed robbery attempt, TMZ reported.
The 39-year-old man arrived home along with an unidentified passenger and pulled into his Sherman Oaks Home driveway early Tuesday morning. Shortly afterward, a car rolled up with four men inside. One gunman ordered Terrence out of the vehicle. The MTV and BET host played it smart and skirted away in his car. As he left the scene, Terrence alleged that the would-be thieves fired shots at him.
The frightened man flagged down a California State trooper, and the officer contacted the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
LAPD did a security sweep of the actor’s home ensuring it was safe. Fox 11 reported that a woman was waiting inside the house as Terrence arrived. She was not hurt.
Police apprehended two suspects– one male, one female– in connection with the bungled robbery attempt. Three more suspects remain at large.
In light of the dangerous incident, the LAPD sent out notification warning people of a new trend. Officers called the latest scheme “follow-home robberies.” Robbers typically target potential victims as they leave high-end eateries and follow them home to rob them later.
“People need to be aware of the surroundings, especially leaving nightclubs, restaurants and what have you,” said LAPD Sgt. Hector Olivera moments after clearing Terrence’s home.
“It seems that the suspects are targeting individuals that either have expensive jewelry, expensive cars, and things of that nature,” he added.
Terrence was shaken up but ok, and an investigation is ongoing.
