Yaya Mayweather, known online as a social media personality and daughter of boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for February 2022 concerning the alleged stabbing of a woman last year, according to the Neighborhood Talk. Believed to have committed the violent crime following an argument over NBA YoungBoy, the 21-year-old could now face 20 years in prison if convicted of aggravated assault.

Many will recall Mayweather making headlines in April 2020 after she allegedly stabbed Lapattra Jacobs, a woman who law enforcement claimed was with the Louisiana-based rapper at his home before the alleged altercation,

according to TMZ. Jacobs, who also shares a child with NBA YoungBoy, reportedly told officers that she was stabbed twice by Mayweather with two different knives.

Seven months later, Mayweather confirmed her pregnancy with the “Make No Sense” rapper on Instagram.

Mayweather was arrested at the Texas home following the incident on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At the same time, Jacobs was taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries, NBC News reported. Shortly after, Mayweather

posted a bond of $30,000 and was released from the Harris County, Texas jail to await her next court date.

If convicted of the aggravated assault charge, she could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. “Assault with a deadly weapon is usually a felony punishable by one to twenty years in prison, depending on the specific provisions of each state’s sentencing statute or sentencing guidelines,” according to Nolo. “Normally, the judge has some discretion on the length of the sentence and whether to allow the defendant to serve any portion of the sentence on probation rather than in prison.”

Jacobs revealed on an Instagram Live that she could not clench her hand into a fist or bend her wrist shortly after the alleged stabbing. Opening up to her followers about the arm cast she was wearing at the time, she added, “When I’m putting this on, I feel the pain shoot up.”
