Flavor Flav Shows Up To Support WGA Strike

Flavor Flav has taken a stand on the recent Writers Guild of America strike. The rapper appeared outside of Warner Bros studios in Burbank, California, where the WGA protesters gathered to portray their message. On Thursday, May 18, Flav showed up with a hearty spread of food to show his support; he gave the protestors pizza, fries, and burgers.

According to TMZ, the 64-year-old was captured in social media videos serving the WGA members food, dancing to “Fight the Power” by Public Enemy playing through a massive boombox. He reportedly said, “I’m glad to be here, glad to support. I got y’all back.” Pictures online circulated of Flav with the Ted Lasso team and even Abbott Elementary stars like Quinta Brunson.

A few WGA protestors took to Twitter to show off Flavor Flav’s support.

The WGA went on strike at the beginning of May after their contract with the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers wasn’t settled. The WGA said to The Hollywood Reporter that they had agreed to walk out if they weren’t able to reach an agreement by the time their contract expired. The WGA said, “While company profits have remained high and spending on content has grown, writers are falling behind.”

“The companies have used the transition to streaming to cut writer pay and separate writing from production, worsening working conditions for series writers at all levels. On TV staffs, more writers are working at a minimum regardless of experience, often for fewer weeks or in mini-rooms, while showrunners are left without a writing staff to complete the season. And while series budgets have soared over the past decade, median writer-producer pay has fallen.”
